From day one you will find on our platform e-schools under each class a weekly timetable which lists subjects for each day. The work that accompanies these subjects is uploaded to class projects and dated so you can access it quickly. We have been doing this continuously even whilst children have been in school full time to be prepared for classes having to self-isolate or whole school partial closures. It matches as closely as we are able our broad curriculum in school. The work is linked to our progression maps and medium term plans available under curriculum tab on the website. If you require paper packs you can email the office and these will be printed for you to collect in the first 2 days of remote learning.
We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. It matches our medium-term plans and progression skills maps available on our website. However, we have needed to make some adaptations in some subjects for you to access different activities. For example:
o Physical Education – videos or suggested links to activities will be shared. These will however be appropriate to the year group your child is in. However, sometimes this might be offered as a live lesson to follow.
o Music – videos and links to singing activities and practicing skills. It is difficult to teach how to use instruments but we might share how to make your own percussion instruments and use them to practice key skills such as pitch, timbre, rhythm. Live lessons might be offered to encourage group work.
We expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly the following number of hours each day:
Reception and Key Stage One - up to 3 hours
Key Stage Two - up to 4 hours.
We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home.
We take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:
- We have a number of laptops and ipads that we can lend if you are struggling to access remote education. Please contact the school office for further information admin2042@welearn365.com or 01789 293201 (please note this will be an answer phone and a member of staff will get back to you. You will be asked to sign a form and agree to not share the device outside your family, keep safe online, not download items unless directed by the class teacher and to return the device when schools are in full time. We will from time to time survey families to determine what devices you have access to so that we can support the right families.
- If you need access to the internet or more data to access online learning then please contact the school who will apply through the government website on your behalf.
- If you do not have online access or struggling to access the activities then please contact the school office via email and we will provide you with a paper pack of learning on a weekly basis. We can arrange for you to collect it from school or if you are struggling to get to the school arrange for it to be delivered to your child.
- If pupils do not have online access to submit work then it can be left in the porch of the school building with the teacher’s name on it or we can arrange to collect it from a social distance or when the class teacher calls you weekly you can ask them about how to submit the learning.

- We expect every child to engage in some of the remote learning every day. We expect them to attend at least either one live lesson a week or submit work to their teacher from the recorded lessons and packs available. We expect them to seek further support if necessary from their teacher through the chat element of e-schools or the weekly phone call the teacher makes. Ideally we would like them to complete all the work but recognise this is difficult for some families to achieve.
- We expect every parent or carer to have read what is expected of their child each week and to have downloaded the timetable showing the tasks for the week. We expect you to contact the school office or the teacher or the senior leadership team if you can’t access the online learning. We expect you to establish a routine with your child so they know when they have to complete their learning and support them to work independently if they can. Younger children may need more support than an older child. We also expect you to provide feedback to your child. Teachers will acknowledge work submitted and provide you with answers where it is possible. It is difficult to assess the work submitted as we cannot guarantee it has been done independently. The live lessons and chat function on e-schools are opportunities for the teacher to check understanding, ask questions to assess what your child has learnt and set challenges.
- We expect every parent or carer to remain in contact. We will telephone or email families at least once a week to ensure you are safe or well. Teachers will contact children through Teams or E-schools and use the chat button to support them and check their welfare. If we are unable to get in touch with you or you do not return our calls then we will consider it a safeguarding concern and our safeguarding team will do everything they can to establish you are well and support you.
- We check on a regular basis the engagement of all the children. We can see on E-Schools who has accessed the learning. Each teacher will record which children have messaged them, downloaded or submitted learning, who they have spoken to either via email or on the telephone and will contact you if they have concerns or want to offer support. The Senior Leadership Team check with the class teachers on a weekly basis to make sure that all children are engaging as much as they are able to. Where a child is not engaging we will arrange paper packs, a 1:1 meeting with you the parent and also add the child to our 'catch up' list for when they return to school so we can address any gaps immediately.
- We will acknowledge all work submitted to us and thank the children. For the majority of work it is difficult to use it for assessment purposes as we are unable to check if it is completed independently. However, through our live sessions and chat features we will assess pupil's understanding of their learning, ask questions and sometimes do a quick quiz online. We will also where necessary give more in depth feedback to a child where we see misconceptions or feel the child could have challenged themselves more. Feedback is usually on a weekly basis if in more detail. We provide parents with the means to give feedback and mark learning such as mathematical questions.
We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in the following ways:
- Our SENDCo will contact all of our families where children have additional needs over the period of lockdown to ensure that you are receiving support and also pinpoint resources you can use.
- Some children may be invited into school on either a full time or part time basis if they need extra support.
- For some children we may assign an adult from the staff to work with your child on a 1:1 live team call where they can talk through the learning and support them with their responses. For some children this could be every day. When the teacher has completed a live session and assessed which children need extra support the lesson may be delivered again on a 1:1 session or in a small group to support those children with additional needs.
- For our younger children in Reception and Year One there will be a daily phonics lesson either live or recorded. 1:1 sessions will be booked to listen to your child read or just to chat to them about their learning. The activities will be practical as much as possible and modelling will take place to support parents when working with their child.
If your child is self-isolating and the rest of the school is open full time we may support your child slightly differently to the above.
Work will be uploaded to the e-schools platform which matches the learning that is happening in the classroom. A powerpoint or explanation of the task will be made available and the activity will be closely linked to the classroom. The class teacher will contact you on a regular basis and use the messaging section of E-schools to support you. Your child will be asked to submit their learning either on a daily basis or to bring all of their learning into school with them on return. Naturally if your child is unwell then they will not be expected to complete work.
